More than 169 crore vaccine doses have been administered across the country overall, including the first, second, and precautionary doses. Among the adult population, around 72% are fully vaccinated, and 94% people have recieved at least one dose.

The first phase of COVID-19 vaccination started in the first quarter of 2021 which approved the distribution of the vaccine across the 30 million health workers who were directly dealing with COVID patients and the frontline workers, including paramilitary forces, police, sanitation workers, and disaster management volunteers.
The second phase of vaccination covered the residents who were over the age of 60, between the age 45 to 60, the residents with one or more qualifying comorbidities, and the healthcare/frontline workers who didn’t receive a dose in the phase 1.
